Faith is the Substance of Things Hoped for, the Evidence of Things Not Seen

Oh boy oh boy oh boy oh boy!!!! GUESS WHAT?!?!???!??!!??!?!? Part of the Megado came today!!!! A day early but, who is complaining, right? Woo hoo!!! The UPS guy backed down the driveway and I ran out the door........(I think he might think I'm nuts:) to greet him with a plate of warm home made cookies, fresh bread, and a glass of milk. Ok....ok.....maybe not all of that but, I sure was thinking it:) I basically screamed and called him Santa Clause. Three out of the six boxes came today. The harnesses, the electronic interface, and the other box with the reed, lease sticks, and what appears to be part of the beater. The only problem was......the box looked like it went through the wringer. Wow. Check this out.
That is what it looked like......seriously.....it was delivered just like that. Please excuse my bare piggies and the salt and mud trodden floor of my porch:) I wasn't really nervous about it because it was shipped fully insured so if anything is wrong, I can let them know. I think I was so excited, I didn't have time to worry.

I got the boxes into the studio. Here is the before picture with a picture of the 60" stripped of all of the pieces I could to move her temporarily into the dining room.

The Megado is going to sit right on the rug but, facing Diana....which you can see on the bottom left of the picture above. AND.....here is a shot of the Megado out of the box and all of the harnesses put back into place.

Please excuse the little piggies in this picture too but, they aren't mine.....they are Jeremiah's:)

Now for the Diana update!!! Lol. She wove like a champ but, we are going to replace parts on her.....again.....just to make sure that she continues to run like a champ. Either way, I'm really happy with the way that the star scarves are coming along so......here are the pictures of the next colors.
I'm undecided for the last scarf....I really like the way the lime looks and I was thinking a pink but, of course, don't have a pink that would look just right and I'm not feeling ambitious enough to dye some......I might just stick with the black.
Well, I'm off to weaving;)

How Wonderful!!! I presume that the damaged box didn't mean a damaged Megado? I can remember how excited I was to get my new loom and so can share your excitement. You will love this loom, I know.... The best part is how QUIET it is.....so relaxing to weave without metal noise. I love the lime scarf.... it's such a fresh clean colour.

What a thrill to have the BIG boxes arrive, and to know that you're on the road to even more beautiful weaving! Boy the boxes were sure beat up, am glad that things look so far so good.

The Divine Miss M looks fabulous in your studio, and I'm excited to see what her maiden warp will bring.

I love your star scarves. The Lime green is wild and wacky, but refreshing all at the same time. Fun!

Weave on!

How exciting! I guess the silver lining from getting only some of the boxes is that you won't be up 24 hours straight putting it all together! Of course, it could still be a challenge sleeping in a constant state of excitement. I am looking forward to seeing what your new baby can do. -Renee

I'm pleased to see that you're not using an end-feed shuttle. Leigh and I have vowed to master weaving selvedges without them. I'm not there yet.

Waffle Weave Towels

There really is no greater therapy than creating.  There is something to be said when one can take time to create something and sit back and look at the results and be pleased.  I've been working through my stash of yarn and am nearing the end of it.  I'm getting to the colors that I'm not very fond of which is, in turn, making me look at the finished products and thinking 'meh'.  This last run of tencel scarves had me feeling that way.  I much prefer using rich colors as opposed to muted tones because the results are always pleasing to the eye.  Though these scarves have great luster due to the fiber content, they just lack the 'wow' I like to say when I'm finished.

Switching gears and heading over to my Glimakra, I've decided to go with a run of waffle weave towels.  Since I don't have any unmercerized cotton left, I'm working with 5/2 mercerized cotton in teal and natural.

Handwoven Store Up and Running!!!

Well, mission accomplished!  The Hand Woven store is up and running with some items that I've worked on recently.  The intent being to have a bit of variety and a splash or two of color.  There are some shibori scarves, chenille scarves, tencel scarves...scarves, scarves, scarves.  Just in time for this year's holiday season!

Yes.  Of course, there are towels as well but, I'll be adding them at a later time.  The Etsy store can be located right from this page by scrolling to the top and selecting the Hand Woven Store tab.  Well, back to the loom! :)

Americana Chenille Scarves on Memorial Day

Still working through the stash of yarn that I already have, I've decided on a run of chenille scarves in red, white and blue!

There is so much to work through in my stash and at the rate I'm going, I may never have to buy yarn again!

I took pictures indoors on a dreary day so the colors don't pop like they would in natural sunlight but you get the idea.  I went with a classic plaid for two and a plain creamy white for the weft in the third.

This was a quick easy plain weave...just trying to cut down the stash!

The weather has finally broken!  An extra month of Winter was a little too much for me so, when I'm not home when I should be home, it's on the trail I am.  Lush green leaves are finally here :)
