So.......What's New?

I have to admit that summer has me in a bit of a slump as far as the loom and wheel are concerned and surprisingly enough, full fledge knitting and crochet!!! Did someone forget to tell me that it's hot out? Well, it's never too late to start for the cool months, right? It seems more people buy then anyway:)

Ok. So, here are the long awaited pictures of what has been going on.

First, the knit in one piece sweater for my mother in law, started on vacation. Almost looks like it's floating....ooooooh.
Next, the vest that is on order knit from hand spun alpaca (Galieon) in a beautiful deep dark brown. I wish you could feel this!!! Wow!!! I mean soft!!!
Hand dyed rayon in purple and pink soon to be listed in the Etsy Botique.
Some hand spun and hand knit baby booties!!! Omigosh they are so darn cute!!!
Hand spun hand crochet baby set.
Ok. With all of that said and shown, I have been going absolutly crazy thinking about what my next weaving project should be. I love to dress the loom and keep it dressed. In the past, for my waffle weave towels, I would tie on one warp and then just tie onto that warp for different colors saving around an hour and a half on time for dressing the loom. So will be the case with my next set of scarves for my 2007-2008 winter line. These scarves are going on the loom to get me primed for some shibori!!! I will be dressing the loom in an 8 shaft point twill and will be tying new warps onto this warp once the scarves have been completed. More details to come.

The warp and weft for the scarves will be tencel that is hand dyed. I have been using a certain brand of dye and will be switching soon to get a richer black. I am unhappy with the colors only because I had expected them to come out a little richer but, all in the same, I'm going to use these colors. The original design idea has been changed because of the way the colors came out, namely the black, to accomodate for the design. Let me know what you think:)

Sum Sum Summer Time

My main focus this summer has been advertising and promoting work for this year. It may be only July but one can never start planning too early. Basically it's just a matter of finding the market and then finding how much time to spend promoting in that market or, of course, to pay someone else to do it, in some cases. With that said, production should be back in full gear in a couple of weeks........we've definatly been part time during the summer for product production but full time in promotion.

Right now my main focus is two knitting projects, one of which is an order, the other is a gift. The entire time I work on them, I think of how much I miss my loom and wheel. :( It's not that I don't like knitting, it's just that I LOVE spinning and weaving. The gift is for my darling Mother-in-law, a knit in one piece sweater and the order is a vest in all hand spun alpaca. I'm pleased with the progress of both of them but, have yet to take pictures:P.

Since there is more rayon yarn here then I will ever know what to do with (ha, I'm sure I could come up with something), I have decided to hand dye and sell some of it. I have been very pleased with the results of the scarf line for this fall and am hoping to share some of the color combinations with others. The newest is listed on Etsy with free shipping. 720 yards of yellow and purple for $18. I purchase yarn in bulk so, I'm able to drop the price to make some of it back. Here is the latest.

Ahhh Back to Work!!!

There is something about loving what you do for a living that makes coming back from vacation easy. As much as it was fun, I missed my darling loom and wheel yet so thankful that I could take along a knitting project and not get car sick. Upon my return, I have decided to continue with knitting......at least for a little bit. The spun white alpaca will eventually be baby booties and I also have a no rush order for an alpaca vest.

Here are some pictures of the finished purple tea towels. I'm very excited about them as they have already gotten a warm welcome. It seems everyone is thrilled at the idea of purple tea towels. I guess I am too and that's why I wove them:)
Next up.......a knitting project of some sort. I am currently in the middle of a pull over sweater knit in one piece on circular needles. Pictures to come:)
